Not a happy camper

I just reset the countdown clock. For a number of reasons, it appears we won't be loading the U-Haul and seeing Georgia in the rear view mirror quite as soon as the S.O. and I had been hoping.

I definitely have mixed feelings about lingering in Atlanta. Living in a state that seems intent on proving that every stereotype about ignorant rednecks is true does get old after awhile. Everytime I think the good ol' boys under the Gold Dome have managed to come up with the World's Dumbest Idea, they top themselves. Maybe it's something in the fertilizers they use on the peanuts?

On the other hand, and in a feeble attempt to look on the bright side, there is Mexican Coca-Cola being sold within walking distance of our apartment, and it's a lot easier to shovel pollen than it is to shovel snow.

  2. BTW, the pines here don't do that.

  3. Mexican Coca-Cola is findable in most of the Costco's here in Seattle. And when it isn't raining water it's raining pollen from the tall evergreens. And I've read that Seattle and Atlanta both top the list of places with terrible freeway congestion.

While we do have a few ding-dongs in local government, generally moderation wins outs.

In Seattle? I call bullshit on that, I've lived in Seattle and never experienced noticeable amounts of pollen from pine trees.

Nor do I here in Port Angeles where I'm surrounded by millions of pine trees. If you want fluff live around cottonwoods, you'll get plenty of it.

  5. Of course there's pine pollen in Washington -- if there wasn't, you'd never see a pine cone. It's just not as noticeable in a climate where it rains a lot as it is here in Georgia where trees tend to be blooming at a dry time of year.

  7. So sorry about the reset.

I understand the frustration of living in a place that can't get it's act together being a life long Californian and seeing the state going downhill all my life...

I read this weekend that global climate change is increasing the allergy season each year in duration and severity. More good news.
