My sister's putting candles on the cake.
Random thoughts about roadside art, National Parks, historic preservation, philosophy of technology, and whatever else happens to cross my mind.

Happy birthday, Nerf!
Not the world's greatest resolution, but my sister Cheryl at age 12. This photo was, of course, taken a number of years ago. I won't mention how many because not only do I have no desire to annoy her I have no desire to depress myself. She is my younger sister, after all.

Happy Birthday, Nerf
The drum corps years . . .
[I hesitated before using this photo. My sister is going to look at it and flinch. Not because it's a picture of her in high school, but because the intervals are so far off in that rifle line. She was (and still is) a drum and bugle corps fanatic.]

Happy birthday, Nerf
Photo of my younger sister, Cheryl (aka Nerf), the middle sister in the family, taken not long before she turned 5.

Happy birthday, Nerf
It's my younger sister's birthday today. She's the short blonde in a dress at the end of the front row. I'll be nice and not actually state her age, but I think it's fairly obvious the photo was taken long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. She started calling herself Nerf sometime in junior high. No clue why, but at the same time her two best friends decided they wanted to be known as Piddle and Wump. Not quite in the same class as Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, but it worked for them. So, happy birthday, Nerf, and tell the llamas I wish them well, too.
