Random thoughts about roadside art, National Parks, historic preservation, philosophy of technology, and whatever else happens to cross my mind.

Should I feel guilty?
Should I be feeling guilty because my reaction to a co-worker being gone all week on funeral leave is relief? The woman is noted for her snark and annoys the bejesus out of me, so should I feel bad instead of relieved that I'm getting a 5-day break?
I have worked with people like that. Matter of fact, I firmly believe that the federal government would save money, increase efficiency and effectiveness, and serve the public better if certain people were paid their full salary on the condition that they never come to work.
We had a guy like that who ran into the back of a snowplow a couple winters back. We kept encouraging him to make good and sure he was recuperated before he came back to work. Damn good and sure.
Unless you had a hand in making the funeral necessary, you have no need to feel guilt. If you were somehow involved, don't discuss the matter any more online.
No worries, Bob, tempting though it might have been to create a situation that would get the anal retentive snark queen out of the office for a few days, my hands are clean. The decedent was elderly, several states away, and shuffled off this mortal coil while sleeping in a nursing home.
Damn, Nan, you are good! Is this large nameless federal agency something like the wet arm of the CIA? 'Cause killing someone three states away, in a nursing home, and making it look natural? I bow before the master.
That guilt would be wasted. Save it for something deserving of it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the brief peace and quiet. And like Lisa said, feel no guilt or you will not enjoy the peace and quiet.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been around lately. I've been swallowed by Twitter.
