And of course we spent a fair amount of time gawking at the pandas:
In the past week we've been to the King Tut exhibit, driven to Alabama to visit relatives, gone to movies, done a little shopping, and today, if all goes as planned, we'll be eating fried green tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.
Update: Tomatoes consumed; details later. Turned out to be another great day for playing tourist in Georgia.

ReplyDeleteSounds like fun - have a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteActually, there's a Tut exhibit here in Atlanta right now, too. Tammi and I were talking about it, because we were considering going to the Dallas exhibit later in the spring, and realized there was so much duplication in Tut's tomb (4 canopic jars with close to indentical lids, 4 canopic caskets, three dozen shabati, half a dozen beds, multiple chairs, an amazing amount of jewelry -- bracelets, rings, finger and toe guards, etc) that it would be possible to do multiple traveling exhibits with similar spectacular content. And it's not just Tutankhamun -- the exhibit gives an overview of Egyptian history and multiple pharoahs. It's a fascinating exhibit -- if you have a chance to get to the Dallas one, go.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great way to spend time in Atlanta and the environs. And how nice that the weather has cooperated so deliciously.
ReplyDeleteI want to wish you a happy new year, Nan! May 2009 bring you health and happiness.
