Swine flu

  1. Boy, I got totally shamed by an old friend today for making a joke about swine flu on my blog.

I'm gunshy now to say anything.

  2. I'm all for technology, but I do have the intelligence to know where to go for factual information. I'm afraid that the "twitterites" are running with the ball, yet it is mostly misinformation. Sad but true.

  3. I just keep thinking "barely 40 cases, almost all mild, in a country of 303 million people. Not exactly panic material." When we start seeing replays of The Stand (i.e., folks saying "I don't feel well," and dropping dead 20 seconds later) I'll get nervous.

  4. A few years back we were in Buffalo NY for hockey, bored to tears with the entire city. The suggestion was made to head to Toronto, even though it was the peak of the SARS 'epidemic'. My buddy Woody effectively quashed all objections with the reasoning, "4 million people, 24 cases of SARS, I like those f**king odds. Plus, from what I've seen of Buffalo, SARS might be preferable". I also believe that 7 out of 10 people are far too stupid to identify their own self interest. Invest in pork futures.

  5. I've been to Buffalo. Woody was right.
