Blogging while female

Comrade PhysioProf has a great discussion going on about misogynistic behavior, the cluelessness of some males, and the hazards of blogging while female. No real surprises -- everyone knows the world is full of jerks whose only criterion for if a woman is worth having around is whether they'd want to fuck her.

It is one of the reasons, though, that quite a few women who blog use gender-neutral pseudonyms. As long as the asshats think the blogger might be male, they'll focus on the ideas -- as soon as they realize the writer has a vagina, however, the comments immediately shift into objectifying her. Doesn't matter if the comments are supposedly compliments (e.g., "Wow, you're hot") or insulting ("Fat ass"), either one is actually an insult because it's saying a cunt is more important than a brain. Very, very strange. I've never been able to figure out why some guys insist on wearing the figurative equivalent of an "I'm with Stupid" shirt with the arrow pointing at themselves.

  1. I am applauding you right now, Nan.

  2. Very true. It always amazes me when someone stops by my blog, wants to argue, I stand up to them, and their next comment is an off-topic personal attack.

Childish, bully, coward. There are many words to describe these particular men. If I was a man, I'd just be pissed and call them an a-hole.

  3. You have stated this quite well and so very true. It would appear that is the t-shirt of choice.

  4. misygonistic... I think you misspelled that but that is beside the point. I'm not picking on you, just pointing it out is all.

It is one of the reasons, though, that quite a few women who blog use gender-neutral pseudonyms.

Quite a few of the women that blog are so screwed up that they have to.

Walk in my shoes for a few miles and date older women that are available to men and you would have a better picture of what I mean.

I'm often called a woman hater, online, but no one that personally knows me thinks so.

They do of course know that a lot of women trouble me because they always want so much and are never happy with what they have and always want more.

I need another woman like that like I need another hole in my head for things to leak out of.

Na, I need a sweet and wise woman like Helen, just 30 years younger.

either one is actually an insult because it's saying a cunt is more important than a brain.

Um, I have a cunt on my nightstand that feels better and gives me better sex than some women have so I sure as hell don't need a woman for that.

I just need a friend that won't be giving me a bunch of shit and is never happy with what she has and always wants more.

And likes to live a basic and simple life and go camping a lot. Oh, and has tits that love to be kissed, ha ha ha.

Hey, I am a man after all.

  5. Really, you are more than welcome to all the women around my age that are available to me because I sure don't want them.

And neither do a lot of other men that like me just do our own interesting things without a mate.

Generally speaking those women are broke and whining they don't have enough money when we have all the money we need now that we are not trying to keep them happy.

Really, generally speaking, single men around my age are better off financially and not as deep in debt as women my age.

And in this economy I see one or two a week tanking and blaming everything but who they should because they refuse to look in a mirror.

  6. Once again, Billy, you missed the point, which was that the world is full of men who persist in judging women solely by whether or not those men would like to bed them, in essence reducing women to the same status as that personal pleasure device you keep on the nightstand. It's dehumanizing.

I did fix the spelling error. I can't believe I missed that one. It's a tad embarrassing to realize I misspelled what I was ranting about.

  7. Sue -- one of the reasons I went to comment moderation is a couple trolls started showing up who just wanted to spout nasty insults about women who comment here occasionally. I saw no reason to give them a platform to spew their hate.

That line of attack always strikes me as remarkably bizarre and infantile, especially in cyberspace. It's like someone walking into a garage and then telling a male mechanic, "hey, you can't possibly know what you're doing because your dick's too small."

  8. As a male I have to agree that I am puzzled we guys don't lose this attitude once puberty is over. I will admit to still objectifying to a degree. But I generally keep it to myself. Women are beautiful creatures, but I found them even more beautiful when I realized they had brains also.

But not to completely fault the guys here, many women do buy into this kind of stupidity. I find them just as obnoxious as the mouth breathing males I know.
